The Bionic Monks are a different story as far as bands go. Eric [bass, lead vocals] had been in the music scene in chicago 20 years ago playing guitar and drums for punk/metal bands but wound up getting out of it due to marraige and then sons. He still messed around writing music with an acoustic over the years but left it at that to be a dad.
The sons, Jeremy [drums12 yrs at the time] and Justin [guitar, back vocals 15 yrs old at the time], wound up following dad in his love for rocking and it did'nt take much to convince him to start a band with them. Eric started teaching Justin the guitar and Jeremy the drums. The first jam they put together was out in the pole barn and it went on and on but the boys had a blast and were hooked.
Since then they had aquired a second guitarist named Dan Emerson who has brought another welcome influence  to the bands sound. The result is a balanced sound of the rock/punk/metal mixed genre. After many shows in multi states and cities,  Jeremy has gone on to big things in high school music and is now the backup drummer. They have the rocking "Dwayne Bowman" taking over the drums spot.
The bands lyrics stray from the common negativity in this genre and are serious and silly in subject matter. The Monks show live rocks
They have shirts and cd's for sale so get you one and rock/mosh/stagedive to one of the most unique bands around.

 Bionic Monks:

The Bionic Monks are truly a band of brothers. This family band includes members from young to old, and the chemistry is heard throughout each song. Their crunchy, bass-thumping riffs create havoc in each song. The guitar solo's remind me of Kirk Hammett, which is a big statement, but the talent is there. Add in the old school vocals, and the combination brings a smile to your face. There is definitely some classic metal in this family's bloodline, which is a great thing for this band's future. Reviews of their live shows have been good, so I see nothing but good things for this band in the future. Maybe need a name change, but that's just me!

Band Aid Magazine Bionic Monks review, Strand Theater, Shelbyville, IN - 7/12/08 We'll start with The Bionic Monks, as they played first. And let me tell you, they were great. The sound in the Strand Theater wasn't the greatest but it is most definitely not the worst I've heard. But despite that minor flaw, TBM had some great music. On their myspace ( http://www.myspace.com/thebionicmonks ) they label their music as Rock / Metal / Punk. I'd have to say that's a very apt description. With Dad on the bass and lead vox, the older son playing guitar, the younger son (you guess his age...I was way off) on the skins and a family friend completing the quartet on guitar, they pulled of the mixture of styles quite well. I expect to hear a lot more from these guys in the future.

Bionic Monks show a commitment to impacting the world through music
Signs affiliate agreement with Atlanta based Empty Vessel Music
Atlanta, GA -- November 25, 2008 -- Atlanta based Empty Vessel Music has announced the signing of new affiliate
artists the Bionic Monks to the for-impact music label. "These guys bring an edge to our stable of artists, an edge
with a heart." said Gerry Van Mansfeld, EV's Executive Director.
The name is a take off from the old "Six Million Dollar Man" show and is where The Monks, as they call themselves,
get their tag line "We can be rebuilt" referring to a more spiritual rebuilding. The band has just the right amount
of "edge" mixed with a lyrical content that has something to say. Band Aid Magazine comments, "they label their
music as Rock / Metal / Punk. I'd have to say that's a very apt description as they pull of the mixture of styles quite
well."
The Monks comment saying, "We formed this band with the goal of writing and providing high energy music
with positive messages to counter the negativity that soaks our style of music and a big part of society. We signed
with Empty Vessel Music because we see that they are on the same mission in working to make a positive
difference in people's lives and the world." This sums up the focus for Empty Vessel Music which is the first "for
impact", 501c3, music label dedicated to encourage, equip and enable others, so to TRANSFORM LIVES using
music as the tool.
